Concert in the UN

UN concert

The United Nations have declared January 27 the "International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust". A special memorial celebration and concert was hosted in the United Nations General Assembly Hall - and we were part of it! What you usually only see from the outside or in rare occasions from the inside in some movies filmed in NYC (e.g. 'The Interpreter' with Nicole Kidman or 'The Art Of War' with our favorite Wesley Snipes) we got to check out up close and personal.

You can tell that the headquarter of the United Nations in New York was built in the early 1950's and seems a little outdated compared to the modern skyscrapers of today, but you cannot deny the great design of Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer when you walk around inside. Especially the Great Assembly Hall resembles the center of it all (see picture above) with the translator windows, podium and the world famous symbol of the UN. An optical and acoustic experience with conductor Zubin Mehta and the Tel Aviv University Music Symphony Orchestra in cooperation with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra - truly an evening to remember…
